SIION'S STORY

Siion Church identity can be traced back to the summer of 1933 when a young woman named Esther Greus, while attending a Finnish Pentecostal church summer conference in Toronto, sensed the call of God to minister as an evangelist in Sudbury amongst the throngs of Finnish immigrants. Three years later, on February 29 1936, the Sudbury Finnish Sion Pentecostal Church was established and has since faithfully  ministered to Finnish immigrants to this day.

Over the last several decades ministry amongst Sudbury's english language population has been sporadic, but in 2010 pastor Markus Rukkila and family came to Sudbury and established  Siion Church as an english language daughter-congregation, to the Finnish pentecostal church. Since then it has grown to be a vibrant, established, multi-cultural congregation serving the south-end of Sudbury
